RISC-V is an enormous leap forward for the semiconductor industry and we see almost daily proof of its success with news of another company announcing support for the ISA. Now comes the challenge –– quality assurance. Users are accustomed to a traditional, well-established and rich ecosystem where bugs in their processors are rare and they expect the same level of quality within the RISC-V ecosystem. RISC-V International is in the throes of organizing a certification committee to address the need for a provable quality benchmark for RISC-V. Experts will discuss what the charter of such a committee should be and define what challenges should be addressed first.
